How to...
Update your Windows and Office
Microsoft understand that their programs are so big that they may contain bugs. We have all seen how the vulnerabilities of the Windows XP Operating System can cause chaos.
Keep your computer system up to date by regularly visiting the Microsoft Update website.
Visit Microsoft Windows Update now to keep your system running.
Click the Scan for Updates option, in the middle of the screen, and wait a few minutes.
Your system will be scanned and a report will be generated to show you if you require any updates.
On the left you are shown Critical Updates and Service Packs, these are the most important updates and if any appear here you shuld install them as soon as possble.
This is followed by Windows Updates and Driver Updates.
These two categories are not as important but contain useful patches and bug fixes.
All Critical updates are added to the install list, if you would like to install any of the other patches and updates you must select them form the list yourself.
When you are ready to install select the option on the left Review and Install Updates.
This will take you to a page showing all the updates selected to be installed. You may remove updates if necessary and then click Install Now button to start the install process.
As with all Microsoft installs you will have to read and agree to the terms and conditions and then the install will start.
Most installs can be left alone to get on with it, but some require input, so go for a coffee but check back from time to time to see how the it is going.
