News: Xilence RAM Cooler HP Duo memory cooler

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Wed Dec 03 2008 12:19 pm PST Comments (0)

“Our friends at bgears have given us that option with the Xilence RAM Cooler HP Duo memory cooler. Xilence is a separate company that builds cases, power supplies, CPU coolers, and other cooling products; all with silence in mind, but their products are marketed in the US by bgears. The RAM Cooler HP Duo has a pair of copper heatpipes with lots of pretty copper fins, so besides providing extra cooling for those hot memory chips, you also get an excuse to add more shiny copper to the inside of your rig. Read on as I look at the HP Duo!"

News: AXP Supernova 1000w and 800w Review - XSReviews

"Power Supplies are one of the more mundane upgrades to a PC as all it really does is make sure everything else runs properly. It's important but not exciting. That's why it's always nice to test something from a relatively new manufacturer on the scene. Today we're looking at the AXP Supernova units in 800w and 1000w. Let's see how they get on."

News: Sapphire Radeon HD4830 512MB Graphics Card Review @ Bigbruin

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Wed Dec 03 2008 12:10 pm PST Comments (0)

I am not exactly sure how I expected the Sapphire Radeon HD4830 512MB graphics card to fare during testing, but it wound up looking more like an enthusiast grade card than an entry level offering. It should be able to handle just about any game without having to sacrifice too much in terms of frame rates or settings, making it a great option for the gamer on a budget.

News: HTC Touch Diamond Review @ Digital Trends

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Wed Dec 03 2008 12:08 pm PST Comments (0)

"With a chiseled black case and stunning 2.8-inch touchscreen, the HTC Touch diamond is one the sharpest smartphones we've laid eyes on recently, both literally and figuratively. Unfortunately, HTC's glossy TouchFLO interface slapped over the tired old Windows Mobile 6.1 weighs on the phone like a ball and chain, and performance does not live up to the inviting exterior."

News: Picking The Right Memory Kit For Intel Core i7 Platforms

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Wed Dec 03 2008 12:06 pm PST Comments (0)

"I was hoping that at the end of testing one speed grade would stand out as the obvious choice, but to be honest, since the performance is close to linear that really isn't the case. With the world wide economy in a recession many consumers have a tight budget, so in the end only buy what you can afford. Also keep in mind that with processors like the Intel Core i7-920 and Intel Core i7-940 have a maximum memory speed of 1066MHz that can't be increased unless you overclock the base clock. That means the only consumers to need higher clock speed memory are those lucky enough to purchase an Intel Core i7-965 Extreme processor..."

News: Palit Revolution 700 Deluxe Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB Video Card

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Tue Dec 02 2008 23:13 pm PST Comments (0)

“Our friends at Palit, who usually aren't happy with the reference design of video cards anyway, have come up with a new version of the HD 4870 X2, with two fans blowing on a pair of heatpipe coolers to cool off those cookin' GPUs. Taking up three expansion slots, this may be the largest gaming video card ever built. Billed by Palit as "the first custom designed HD 4870 X2", the card not only sports custom cooling, but also a Palit-designed PCB, and four different output interfaces. In addition, they have overclocked the 2 gigs of GDDR5 memory. Read on as we check out the Palit Revolution 700 Deluxe!"

News: Thermaltake Spedo Advance Package Review @ OCC

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Tue Dec 02 2008 23:06 pm PST Comments (0)

"Fans, fans, and more fans. The Thermaltake Spedo Advanced Package comes with a ton of cooling. There are 2 120mm fans in the rear of the case for exhaust. There is a 230mm at the top of the case for exhaust and a 230mm intake fan on the side panel. There is a 140mm intake fan in front that was shown when the bezel of the case was off and also a bonus 120mm fan shown in the extras photos on the first page to place either at the bottom of the case or behind the mother board. I mounted mine as an intake behind the motherboard. There is also a multi-chamber cooling system that uses plastic dividers to channel the air better."

News: REVIEW - EK Water Blocks 4870 X2 @ PureOverclock

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Tue Dec 02 2008 23:04 pm PST Comments (0)

“We've noted concerns about the heat being produced by the ATI 4870 X2 behemoth, so we had a chat with our friends over at EK Water Blocks to see what could be done about that. And as luck would have it, they mentioned a new 4870 X2 waterblock that sounded positively enthralling to us.

News: NZXT Guardian 921 Review - XSReviews

Posted by: THRASHER2 on Tue Dec 02 2008 23:02 pm PST Comments (0)

"A good case can be a gamer’s best friend, holding all the vital components whilst looking good and keeping the system cool. However a case doesn’t contribute in any great way to the performance of the computer so people tend to be a bit tight and skimp on a good looking but not very functional case. NZXT has released the Guardian 921, a relatively cheap but swish looking case. Is it like the hundreds of other budget cases or does it have something special to offer? XSR's gonna' find out."
